Formerly gatehouses and lodge to the Grade I listed Georgian House of Sewerby Hall, these award-winning period properties have been carefully restored to a very good standard, resulting in three unique detached holiday cottages (refs 27522, 27523 and 27524). Visitors can enjoy access to Sewerby Hall Estate and Gardens (seasonal opening times apply). The hall, restored in 2014 as a country house circa 1910, displays impressive historic interiors, nationally important furniture which is on loan from the Victoria and Albert Museum London, and a collection of memorabilia that was once owned by the famous local aviator, Amy Johnson.
The 50-acres of grounds offer spectacular views over Bridlington Bay and include award-winning landscaped gardens and numerous woodland walks, with a huge variety of wildlife. Children will love the fascinating collection of animals in the zoo, including penguins and ring-tailed lemurs. The estate contains a 9-hole pitch ’n’ putt golf course, 18-hole putting green and a children’s adventure playground. The Clock Tower Cafe and Stables gift shop both offer 10% discount on selected items for visitors staying in the cottages. A short walk leads to the beach, or alternatively visitors can board the Land Train for a cliff top journey to Bridlington.
The traditional resort of Bridlington appeals to all ages with its bustling harbour, historic Old Town, The Spa Bridlington and miles of sandy beaches. Local places of interest include Flamborough Head with its famous lighthouse, RSPB Bempton Nature Reserve with unrivalled views of puffins, guillemots and kittiwakes, whilst inland lie the scenic Yorkshire Wolds, inspiration for the famous paintings by David Hockney.
