Set in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, this semi-detached cottage is situated on the banks of the River Aire between the Malhamdale villages of Kirkby Malham and Hanlith. It enjoys 8 acres of shared grounds in an idyllic setting where you can simply park your car and explore the Dales from the door! Enjoying a quiet location down a private drive, this cottage, originally built in 1792, forms part of an exclusive development of a former cotton mill and workers’ cottages.
The River Aire feeds the mill pond and leat, which adds charm and life to the grounds – a bird spotters’ paradise.

The mill pond retains many of its original gates to manage the flow and a small bridge towards the end of the land crosses the head gates to the pond. There is a communal garden to the front of the mill with space to sit and enjoy the river and weir. In addition there is a small private woodland, shared by the residents of Scalegill.
Malham Cove, with its limestone amphitheatre and the gorge of Gordale Scar, are within easy (10-minute) walking distance, as is Malham Tarn, one of the largest natural areas of water in Yorkshire.

Alternatively, the market towns of Settle and Skipton are close by and offer a wide range of shops, pubs and restaurants. The Settle to Carlisle Railway Line is renowned as one of the most beautiful lines in the country and, on occasion, offers travel by steam train. Skipton enjoys a wide, sweeping High Street with a Norman castle standing guard at the top. The Leeds-Liverpool canal traverses Skipton and outlying villages, with canal day trips from Skipton a great alternative way to view the area. Farm shop 2 miles, pub/restaurant ¾ mile
