Standing peacefully in one of the prettiest villages in Britain, this delightful single-storey holiday cottage was originally an old farm building. With thick stone walls and a lovely wood burner, visitors can be cosy throughout the entire year. Furnished with great care and attention to detail, the cottage has a very well-equipped kitchen/dining room, a comfortable, spacious living room and two beautifully coordinated bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower room. All on one level but, please note that it is not specifically designed for people with mobility problems.
With its pretty enclosed garden, Newstead Cottage is the perfect choice for a relaxing holiday.
From the garden, a private pathway leads towards the village of Thornton-le-Dale, with its beautiful cottages with country gardens and a babbling brook running alongside the street. Within a short walk from the cottage, the highly picturesque village is centred on a tiny triangular green with its market cross and stocks, and an interesting selection of shops, inns and tearooms. The North York Moors and Dalby Forest provide fantastic opportunities for walking, cycling, nature watching and stargazing.
The North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway runs from Pickering, which travels through stunning scenery to the fishing port of Whitby. Family fun can be found at Flamingo Land and Go Ape Treetop Adventure in the Dalby Forest. Robin Hood’s Bay, Scarborough and the Yorkshire Wolds are all within a 30-minute drive. York with its Minster, museums and historic centre can also be reached within a 30-minute drive. Beach 15 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile
Spoilt for choice - croft or cottage near the sea? Yorkshire promises an adventure. There is plenty of last minute dog friendly short breaks in York, Harrogate or Pennines - some have wonderful walking from the door step.
