A warm welcome awaits as you step inside Brittain House. With a blend of traditional features, modern amenities this is just the place to relax after a day exploring the region. The spacious living room is comfortably furnished and the open fire a welcome addition for cooler evenings. To the rear a large kitchen/dining room is well equipped with range style cooker and full range of appliances. Upstairs are three bedrooms, the master bedroom with kingsize bed and additional sofa bed for flexible sleeping with views of the castle and en-suite shower room. Externally the property has a lawned south-west facing garden set with picnic bench and Weber barbecue and a gas barbecue.
Conveniently situated just a short stroll from the cobbled market square and riverside walks, you can simply park up the car and enjoy all that Richmond has to offer on foot.
There is an excellent choice of eating places, pubs and coffee shops, the cobbled streets a joy to amble around with independent shops and galleries. The famous Norman castle dominates the skyline, with circular walks around the riverbanks taking you past the station, a bustling centre hosting art and craft exhibitions, a three-screen cinema, café, independent shops, a micro-brewery and an ice cream parlour. On the same site there is an indoor swimming pool and health club. Richmond sits at the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales National Park, making this the perfect base for outdoor enthusiasts to explore the sights of Swaledale and the Yorkshire Dales.
There are plenty of riverside and woodland walks nearby which continue into the wonderful countryside beyond. One of the most popular walks is Wainwright’s Coast to Coast, which passes through Richmond taking you through some breathtaking countryside with amazing views.
To enjoy the wider area, visit one of the many pretty Yorkshire towns or villages, such as Thirsk, Ripon, Harrogate, Leyburn, Hawes or Reeth, all of which are close by. With the opportunity to watch the horse racing at Catterick and York racecourses. The cathedral city of Durham is just over half an hour away, and is certainly worth a day trip to explore, as is historic Barnard Castle and Bowes Museum
