The Old Sweet Shop is a spacious Grade II listed 18th century cottage situated on Frenchgate, one of the most popular streets in Richmond, North Yorkshire. The cottage has an interesting history, being the birthplace of John Fenwick, founder of the famous Fenwick’s department stores. It later became a sweet shop, hence retaining the name.

With an abundance of original charm and beautiful oak beams throughout, the cottage is tastefully furnished for your comfort and relaxation. The entrance hall leads through to a large comfortable living room with feature fireplace and coal effect electric fire and where the dining table is set within the attractive bay window. The living room leads through the inner hall to a well-equipped kitchen/ breakfast room.

A broad staircase leads upstairs where there are two well positioned bedrooms, the first a large characterful double bedroom with beautiful brass bed and writing desk. The second bedroom has twin beds and enjoys rooftop views towards the historic Norman castle.
