At Rohan Cottage you are completely immersed in rural country life, with scenic walks right on your doorstep offering breathtaking views over the rolling heather moorland. This characterful sandstone cottage, dating back to the 1860s, invites guests to experience an authentic and quaint country stay.
Originally built for miners who worked in the nearby iron mines, you can still visit the old iron kilns built into the nearby hillside, adding a touch of historical intrigue to your stay. Stepping inside, the cottage retains much of its original charm. The dining room features an original fireplace, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for meals. Adjacent to the dining room is a cosy lounge, where you can unwind on the sofas in front of the open fire, set in the original cast iron oven.

The well-equipped kitchen is perfect for guests who enjoy home cooking, and the ground floor also boasts a bathroom with a shower over the bath. Upstairs, Rohan Cottage offers two sweet bedrooms. The first bedroom features a comfortable double bed, a dressing table, wardrobe, and drawers, ensuring ample storage space. The second bedroom includes a wardrobe, drawers, a Smart TV, and the bonus of an ensuite shower. Outside, you’ll find a wonderful, enclosed garden with an elevated outdoor seating area. This is the perfect spot to soak up the incredible views across the countryside, providing a serene and picturesque setting for relaxation.
Rohan Cottage is just a mile and a half from the quaint village of Rosedale Abbey, where you’ll find a couple of traditional pubs, tea rooms, and a village shop.

From the cottage, you can also enjoy a wonderful walk over to pub on Blakey Ridge, a popular spot with locals and holidaymakers alike, known for its hearty meals. The North York Moors National Park offers a wealth of attractions. Enjoy a ride on the heritage steam train from Pickering to Whitby, where you can explore the stunning coastline. Visit the Ryedale Folk Museum to delve into the region’s history and culture. The nearby coastal towns of Whitby, Staithes, and Robin Hood’s Bay are within easy reach, each offering their own unique charm and attractions.
