Holly Cottage is the perfect home from home in the lovely village of Brotton. Ideally located in the North York Moors National Park, and just a short walk to the Yorkshire Heritage Coast and the Cleveland Way, Holly Cottage is ideal for nature lovers. This two bedroomed stone cottage dates back to the 1700s, and offers a comfortable open plan living space. There is also a bike store available on request.
The Victorian seaside resort of Saltburn is just 10 minutes away with its funicular lift, miles of beach, ice cream shops and a long pier stretching out into sea. Saltburn is also a surfers paradise with great waves and surf schools for those who are new to surfing. The stunning double bay at Skinningrove is another hidden gem along the magnificent coastline, as well as many bays and coves such as Staithes, Robin Hood’s Bay and Runswick Bay all harbouring stories of piracy and smugglers.
You’ll also find a village pub just a short stroll away offering home cooked meals and a friendly welcome. The Saltholme RSPB visitor centre is just half an hour to the north, where there are many rare birds nesting, as well as a seal viewing point at Seal Sands, which is is just a mile along the coast from Saltholme.
The wonderful fishing town of Whitby is just a 30-minute drive away, with its historic abbey, bustling marina and famous fish and chips, making it a great place for all the family. It is also home to the bi annual Goth Weekend, annual Whitby Regatta and the setting of the Bram Stoker’s gothic novel Dracula.
The natural beauty of the North York Moors National Park begins just 5 miles away from Holly Cottage. The beautiful area has some stunning scenery, and is home to villages such as Goathland (also known as Aidensfield from Heartbeat), Lealholm and Grosmont where you can catch a train on the Grosmont to Pickering steam train. The area is perfect for walkers, hikers, birdwatchers, surfers and families, as the beach is within easy reach, along with the local golf course. Further afield you’ll find the seaside resort of Scarborough, the medieval walled city of York, the Beamish Museum and the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
