Extra Amenities

With fantastic views of the castle and seafront you will find yourself sitting by the window watching the world go by and enjoying the view. Oaklands View is on the elegant South Cliff on the clifftops above the bay. It’s a short stroll down to the seafront and you always have the option of the cliff lift to come back up to the Esplanade. This was the first funicular in the UK and has been used by many holidaymakers over its 100 years in operation. This delightful, second floor apartment is next to the famous Crown Spa hotel so you also have the added advantage of a health spa and swimming pool which can be used for a small charge. Passing through the Italian Gardens is also a delightful walk down to the beach with beautiful well-tended gardens and weaving pathways down to the seafront.

Once on the seafront, you have a wonderful long marine drive with over 2½ miles of flat gentle walking.
The South Bay is a traditional seaside resort with donkey rides, amusements, the pier, plenty of good restaurants and bars as well as the traditional fish and chip shops. There’s something for all age groups in Scarborough. The famous Stephen Joseph Theatre, home to most of Alan Ayckbourn’s world premieres is a short stroll from the apartment. For the children there is Scarborough Sea Life Sanctuary and Peasholm Park where the children can boat on the lake or watch the Naval Battle.

The outdoor theatre hosts many international acts and is one of the largest outdoor theatres in Europe.
The seaside resorts of Filey, Flamborough Head and Bridlington are to the south and to the north is the resort of Whitby. The RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton is a short drive where you can watch the comical puffins perched on the cliffs. The medieval city of York is an hour away or there is a direct train from Scarborough. If you prefer to drive, there is a park and ride facility once you reach the city. York is often voted in the top 10 cities to visit in the UK and has so many attractions. Beach 300 yards. Shop, pub and restaurant 200 yards.
