Nestled in the picturesque riverside village of Shotley in Suffolk, this charming holiday cottage is the epitome of rustic elegance, offering a delightful escape for those seeking a serene retreat. The quaint cottage promises a cosy and enchanting stay with its tranquil river views and proximity to various attractions. For nature enthusiasts, Shotley Peninsula offers an array of scenic walks and bird-watching opportunities as well as beach areas. The nearby Shotley Marina is a hub for boating activities with a bar/restaurant and there is also another pub overlooking the water. You can even take a foot ferry to the neighbouring towns of historic Harwich or Felixstowe. A pleasurable walk along the river bank to Pin Mill is a delight. When you’re ready to explore, there are plentyof attractions nearby to keep you entertained.

The historic town of Bury St Edmunds is well worth a visit and the best way to explore is to take part in a town trail. No visit to Suffolk is complete without a trip to the stunning Suffolk coast.
A trip to the traditional town of Southwold, home to Adnams Brewery is the perfect way to spend a day with its independent shops and restaurants. Close by is Aldeburgh where you will find the famous fish and chip shop, get there early as it is very popular. Just a little bit further is Thorpeness, the small village of Thorpeness which is dominated by the Mere, is popular all year round and bears witness to the village’s fantastical past. In 1910, Stuart Ogilvie bought the hamlet and set to transform it into a private fantasy holiday village.

Today the village is just how Ogilvie envisaged it with pretty mock Tudor houses. You can hire boats and take a trip around the picturesque six thousand acre Mere to see the islands and inlets all named by J. M Barrie the author of Peter Pan where you will see statues of Wendy and Peter Pan. Every August a regatta on the Mere is held which culminates in a torch-lit parade of boats and fireworks.
The Cottage is the perfect holiday cottage for those seeking a quaint, riverside escape in Suffolk, where you can immerse yourself in the beauty of the countryside while enjoying easy access to a range of attractions and activities. Whether you’re sipping tea by the river or exploring the charming villages, this cottage promises a memorable holiday experience.
