The cottage is the perfect place for a family to enjoy a relaxing holiday together. Enter the property into the boot room, ideal for kicking off those walking shoes after a day exploring the estate. The fitted kitchen boasts a large table to gather around and the spacious living room has wonderful views of the garden, stream and water wheel of the adjacent mill. Also on the ground floor there is a spacious double room with en-suite facilities. Head upstairs for two further light and airy bedrooms and a bathroom. Outside you can relax and enjoy the babbling stream, and there is plenty of space on the patio to spend lazy summer evenings with good company.
Whilst staying on the estate, a visit to Hardwick Hall, an Elizabethan masterpiece, is a must! Take a stroll around the house and enjoy finding out more about the history of the building and its remarkable owner, Bess of Hardwick. Or why not stretch your legs and take a walk in the picturesque parkland or peaceful gardens?
A little further away you will find the delights of the Peak District National Park, including Chatsworth House and the wonderful town of Matlock, as well as some stunning countryside to explore. The historic market town of Chesterfield, which acts as the ‘gateway to the Peak District National Park’, is found only a few miles away.
Chesterfield is well-known for its 14th-century church with its famous crooked spire. Also popular with visitors is the semi-rural 17th-century mansion, Bolsover Castle, steeped in history and set high on a wooded hilltop looking west towards the heights of the beautiful Peak District.
In nearby Nottinghamshire you can visit Nottingham Castle or Sherwood Forest to go on a Robin Hood treasure hunt!
