Alnmouth is one of the prettiest coastal villages in Northumberland, known for its colourful houses, wide sandy beach and peaceful village atmosphere.

Set where the River Aln meets the sea, it offers a wonderful mix of coast, countryside and history, making it a great choice for guests visiting the area for the first time. The village began life as a busy port and still has a fascinating character shaped by its maritime past. Today, it is loved for its scenic estuary views, unspoilt shoreline and relaxed pace, with plenty of places to eat and drink within easy reach.
The beach is one of Alnmouth’s biggest attractions, with a huge sweep of golden sand that is perfect for walking, paddling, picnics and dog-friendly days by the sea. The estuary is especially beautiful, popular for watching birds and enjoying a gentle stroll with ever-changing views across the water. For walkers, this part of the Northumberland coast is a real treat, with coastal paths leading to beautiful viewpoints and nearby villages.

It is easy to spend the day exploring the shoreline and then return to Alnmouth for a drink or meal in one of its welcoming pubs or restaurants.
Golfers will also be well placed, as Alnmouth is home to popular golf courses with spectacular coastal scenery. A short drive away, guests can visit Alnwick, famous for Alnwick Castle and The Alnwick Garden, while the stunning beaches and dramatic castle at Bamburgh make another memorable day out. You can also head to Craster for a walk to Dunstanburgh Castle or explore the fishing villages and market towns dotted along the coast and inland. With so much to see, from historic landmarks to dog-friendly beaches and scenic seaside walks, Malcolm Miller House is a wonderful base for discovering Northumberland and enjoying a stay guests will want to return to again and again
