Situated in a quiet spot in the centre of the village of Lesbury, Wagtail Cottage is a terraced property in a row of four, which was formerly the home of the farm workers. Today, this fantastic holiday home offers contemporary and cosy accommodation that’s ideal for couples or a small family. The rear patio area is a great spot for relaxing after a day exploring the many visitor attractions located nearby.
Just a 2-mile walk from the property down the River Aln is the village of Alnmouth on the revered Northumberland Heritage Coast. The village is made up of pretty, painted houses, tea rooms, pubs, gift shops, an art gallery and a beautiful sandy beach.
4 miles inland is another must-visit on your holiday - Alnwick Castle and Gardens. This grand old castle enclosed by magnificent formal gardens was used in a number of celebrated films and TV series, including Downton Abbey, Harry Potter and Braveheart. The pretty village of Warkworth is only a few miles away, with its scenic riverside walks, castle ruins and charming little tea rooms. A little further afield is the friendly port of Amble, which boasts some good amenities and a lovely Sunday morning market. If you prefer sleep-ins, fish and chips on the harbour can be just the ticket after exploring the port town.
After just a short stay, you’re sure to agree that Wagtail Cottage is an ideal location for exploring the whole of Northumberland from the coast to the national park, which is jam-packed full of historical sites and natural, unspoilt landscapes. The property also benefits from being close to Alnmouth train station making it easily accessible to discover all of Northumberland and also Edinburgh with its many attractions including the Edinburgh Festival.
