The village is often described as the ’Gateway to the Secret Kingdom’, and offers many facilities including shops, a tea room, pubs renowned for serving delicious food, and an impressive golf driving range.

The small and friendly market town of Wooler sits at the foot of the Cheviot Hills, 12 miles west, which is a popular destination for cycling, hang-gliding, golf, horse riding and walking. Although Melandra is quietly situated, the A1 is less than a mile away, giving easy access to the elegant Georgian town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, which straddles the salmon rich River Tweed to the north, and the market town of Alnwick, with its dramatic castle, to the south.
