Croft Cottage is a detached, single-storey cottage with outstanding countryside views, set in its own lawned garden in a tranquil setting, close to the edge of the Northumberland National Park. With the owner living on-site, the cottage was completely renovated in 2019 and has generous sized living accommodation with a lovely wood burner for those cooler evenings. Step out of the French doors and sit and admire the lovely views from the patio.
Nearby Rothbury is just over 6 miles away. This friendly and peaceful little market town has a strong community spirit with riverside walks, independent shops, pubs, cafés and is home to Cragside House and Gardens, a beautiful National Trust property, well worth a day’s visit.
The energetic may wish to walk up the Simonside Hills or explore over to Kielder Water for the mountain biking or water sports. For cyclists bringing their bikes, a lock up bike store is available on request and is just a 4-minute walk from the cottage. Being close to the Gold Tier International Dark Sky Park, the skies at Croft Cottage can be clear and bright should you wish to partake in a little star gazing while staying here.
Thropton is only 4 miles away with a couple of pubs and Harbottle, set in the Northumberland National Park is only 6 miles.
You can easily travel over to Alnwick from here where a visit to the famous castle used in Downtown Abbey as Branchester makes a lovely visit, even more so for Harry Potter fans. Alnwick still has the archway through to the town centre and some cobbled streets are still in existence. Travel up the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Heritage coastal route taking in Bamburgh Castle and Holy Island, all easily reached from the cottage, making lovely day trips out. Beach 21 miles. Shop 6½ miles, pub and restaurant 4¾ miles
