Set just behind Rothbury’s high street yet, in a lovely quiet setting, this detached cottage lies just a 2-minute walk from the centre of this pretty market town. With ample parking, you can leave the car behind and set off on a walk to the beautiful National Trust Cragside House, home to Lord Armstrong. Rothbury is known as the capital of Coquetdale and sits next to the River Coquet and the Simonside Hills. There are many walks in Upper Coquetdale, the Cheviot Hills and along Hadrian’s Wall, and is ideally located for exploring many picturesque villages.
There is easy access to Kielder Forest Park and the Northumberland Heritage Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Alnwick is just 12 miles away and famous for its castle which was used in some scenes for Harry Potter. The cafés in the small town are popular with cyclists and walkers and there are gentle walks along the riverside for the less energetic. The Sandstone Way will appeal to mountain bikers of all abilities and golfers can enjoy several nearby courses, as well as Rothbury’s picturesque 18-hole golf course nearby. Serious walkers will enjoy the Simonside Hills.
The outstanding National Park, a Gold Tier park perfect for star gazing, has a fabulous selection of water sports on Kielder Water. There are a small selection of independent shops, an award-winning butcher and a lovely little craft ale bar. It is an easy drive from Newcastle Airport and North Shields Ferry Port as well as the intu Metrocentre at Gateshead, a bustling and vibrant shopping mall. Trains from Alnmouth station will take you into the centre of Edinburgh in little over an hour. National Trust Wallington Hall is just 13 miles away. Beach 15¾ miles.
