Teal House is set on a development of houses on the edge of Amble, about 15 minutes’ walk from the high street and harbour. Amble is a small, friendly fishing town with a working harbour, a marina, and a small beach. On the harbour are some small pod-style shops, and on a Sunday, there is a popular and busy market where locals buy fish, fruit and vegetables. The small lobster hatchery is a popular tourist attraction, and around the harbour are some small fish restaurants, two fish and chip shops, and an Italian-style ice cream shop which sells a fantastic range of ice cream flavours.
Boat trips are available from here to Coquet Island to see the RSPB bird sanctuary. The historic village of Warkworth is only 2 miles away, and you can enjoy a lovely walk whilst admiring the view of Warkworth Castle, which is set on the small hillside awash with daffodils in the spring. The pubs, bespoke shops and pretty riverside are a real attraction, and with free parking, it is a popular little place to visit. Alnwick is 14 miles away with its cobbled streets and famous castle which featured in the Harry Potter films and Downton Abbey TV series. The water gardens are beautiful at any time of the year, and the spectacular grand cascade waterfall, as well as the world’s largest treehouse restaurant, should not be missed.
