A useful shower room with toilet completes the ground floor accommodation. Upstairs are four nicely presented and comfortable double bedrooms, three of which have kingsize beds. The family bathroom has a beautiful period-style slipper bath and a separate shower cubicle. Guests also have access to the detached double garage which can be used for bicycle storage.

The property is located just 2 miles from the unspoilt south Lakeland village of Cark in Cartmel, which has two traditional pubs, an artisan bakery, convenience store, garden centre and a small children’s playground. There are excellent walking opportunities in the area plenty of which can be found on the doorstep, with the ancient Cistercian Way and Cumbrian Coastal Way passing through nearby Cark and Cartmel, linking to all major walking routes in the Lake District. Cark also offers pretty riverside strolls and lovely walks to the local coastline, overlooking Morecambe Bay. Cark itself is served by the Furness line railway, where you can catch the train to Grange-over-Sands, an elegant Edwardian seaside town offering a good selection of local stores, gift shops and cafés. Along the promenade, there are pleasant gardens with a children’s playground and mini golf. Grange also has two golf clubs.
Famous for its sticky toffee pudding, the medieval village of Cartmel, with its quaint cobbled streets, welcoming traditional pubs, antique and gift shops and a nationally acclaimed Michelin starred restaurant, is 4 miles away.
Cartmel is a short distance from Cark, through the woods to the race course which, in May, July and August, is the setting for Cartmel Races, a fabulous event for all the family with a funfair and a variety of stalls. On race days there are regular shuttle buses that run from Cark. The popular visitor attraction Holker Hall is just down the road, where you can walk around the extensive parklands stocked with herds of deer and rare breeds of cattle and sheep. Why not visit the stately house and gardens, enjoy afternoon tea in the courtyard café, or visit the food hall to take away some of the best produce from the Holker Estate and local suppliers?
Accessible for some of the Lake District’s most popular attractions, the cottage is just a 10 minute drive to the Haverthwaite Lakeside Steam Railway, which connects you to the Windermere steamers and cruise boats. Grab an explorer ticket for Ambleside or Bowness-on-Windermere or simply chug along to the Lakes Aquarium or Motor Museum. Beach 2½ miles. Shop and pub 2 miles, restaurant 4 miles
