Conveniently located at the foot of Pendle Hill, in the small Pendleside village of Fence, guests can enjoy easy access to the whole of Lancashire and the Yorkshire Dales. The small village of Fence, up until late medieval times, lay in the Forest of Pendle and was the hunting preserve of the king.
The area boasts a large number of great pubs and restaurants, including one, 700 yards away, which was awarded a Michelin Star in 2018 and is only one of three in the county. The surrounding countryside provides an abundance of fine walks. Pendle Hill, just 3 miles away, and the neighbouring villages are renowned for the legend of the Pendle Witches and the most notorious witch trial of the 17th century.
St. Mary’s Church, located in Newchurch, is home to the tombstone known as the ’witches grave’. Take a trip to the popular market towns of Clitheroe and Skipton, which can both be reached in under half an hour.
