There are many places of interest within a short drive including Battle Abbey Gatehouse (English Heritage) and the battlefield where King Harold and William, Duke of Normandy, fought for the future of England; find out if you could carry a Norman shield into battle.

Visit the beautiful grounds at NT Bateman’s and see where Rudyard Kipling wrote his fascinating stories. Spend a day at Bewl Water, trout fishing ( licence required), cycling or simply enjoying the boats.
