At the heart of “1066 Country” is the attractive market town of Battle, perfect for enjoying afternoon tea, or finding a souvenir of your holiday in one of the art galleries and experience the famous battle itself through dramatic film and audio tours witnessing the event that changed the course of English history – The Battle of Hastings.
Take a picnic to Glynebourne, visit National Trust houses, castles and gardens, or book a wine tasting tour at an award-winning vineyard. Good rail connections from Battle to London for further sightseeing opportunities. Beach 3 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ¾ mile.
