Previously part of the former Gatten and Lake Primary School, Old School Mews has been converted into a truly wonderful holiday ‘home from home’. The unique character of the original building has been preserved, whilst benefiting from a modern, sleek twist. The developers spent a considerable amount of time and effort focusing on the detail taking full advantage of the building’s grand dimensions and classic architecture. The accommodation comprises a large, open-plan living space with French doors that lead on to the enclosed, rear garden. The modern kitchen benefits from built in appliances, including a breakfast bar. The master bedroom on the first floor has a spacious en-suite shower room, and there is also a second bedroom plus the family bathroom. The second floor offers an extremely spacious third bedroom which occupies the whole of the top of the house; it contains two 4ft beds, and is an ideal room for up to four children.
Located only minutes away from the cliff path with direct access down to the beach, this charming, terraced holiday home makes an ideal base for small groups, or perhaps even two families, wanting to holiday together. The nearby golden, sandy beaches stretch for miles, and the Esplanade is packed full of amusements and crazy golf, as well as several places to eat. Away from the beach, the main town offers a multitude of shops, cafés, bars and restaurants.
The Old Village is renowned for its pretty thatched cottages, cosy tea rooms, pubs, restaurants and craft shops. The seaside town of Shanklin is well served by public transport around the island with regular buses and the railway ‘Island Line’ to Ryde and Sandown.
Outdoor pursuits on the island include horse riding, fishing, cycling, paragliding, golf and water sports. There are numerous attractions across the island to discover for all ages, such as The Needles, with its chairlift, amusement park, boat rides, lighthouse and coloured sands of Alum Bay. Blackgang Chine, Dinosaur Isle, the Isle of Wight Steam Railway, Ventnor Botanical Gardens, Tapnell Farm Park and Carisbrooke Castle are other attractions. Or why not pay a visit to Queen Victoria’s favourite holiday residence, Osborne House and its gardens? The sailing towns of Yarmouth and Cowes also make for a great day out. Whatever you decide, the Isle of Wight has plenty to offer. Beach 550 yards. Shop ½ mile, pub and restaurant 550 yards
Looking for luxury in a mansion house or seaside beach house? South of England is a great holiday destination. There are many dog friendly short breaks in Surrey, Tunbridge Wells or Berkshire - some have hot tubs.
