English country holiday cottages to rent

Self catering holiday cottages near Warminster to rent - visit Stonehenge and Longleat Safari Park

Warminster is a very picturesque, ancient town, surrounded by seven hills lying below wonderful chalk downland on the edge of the West Wiltshire Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that sees an absolute abundance of flora and fauna. The town is well-known for the Dents glove factory, dating back to 1777 that has supplied gloves for royalty since George III, including those of HRH Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation gloves.

The holiday cottage enthusiast will be in their element here. There are numerous cycling and walking routs to surrounding villages and there is also sailing on nearby Shearwater Lake. It is also worthy to note that the town is the nearest one to the famous Longleat Safari Park, the first in the UK. The town park is nothing but beautiful, and during the better weather around the summer, there is a childrens’ paddling area, tennis courts, a putting green and a skatepark, although all except the paddling pool are available all year round, either in public places or as private facilities within self-catering holiday homes. The world-famous Stonehenge, perhaps the best-known prehistoric monument in Europe, along with its Neolithic visitor centre, is also not too far from the town.
