Planning holiday activities and things to do when staying in Mere?

Aside from wonderful walking and horse riding available in the surrounding Wiltshire countryside, Mere also offers, angling, golf and clay pigeon shooting, and for something really unusual for the youngsters (off all ages, seven to seventy!), a visit to the Bush Farm Bison Centre (4 miles outside Mere) or to the Manor Farm Falconry just outside the town. There is also Woodlands Manor (an easy walk of just under a mile south of Mere) with its Grade 1 listed manor hour and chapel from the 1300's.

Despite being a smaller town, there's plenty on offer for the self-caterer. Provisions shops, a quality butchers, wine shop and pharmacy provide all the basic requirements for the holiday cottage self-caterer. And the local tea room, pubs ore even the take-away means you can take a break from the kitchen. There is also an excellent museum, a Grade 1 listed church (St Michael the Archangel) several antique dealers in the town.
