The Escape is a delightfully cosy and quirky holiday hideaway, providing the perfect tranquil and romantic setting. With no near neighbours, the silence is broken only by birdsong, providing the perfect atmosphere for unwinding and relaxation away from the hubbub. Its glorious south-facing gardens, whose pond, colourful flowerbeds and extensive, level lawns attract an abundance of wildlife and include a private driveway and parking area. The open plan living space has oak flooring, triple aspect windows, an abundance of natural light and panoramic, uninterrupted, 270° long-distance views of Bodmin Moor, including Caradon Hill, Sharp Tor and Notter Tor. A sumptuous king-sized Victorian feature brass bed and sparkling crystal wall lights grace the oak floored bedroom. The en-suite with its shimmering mosaic tiled floor is reminiscent of the sea, whilst the pretty stained-glass windows complete the beach hut feel.
Dressing gowns and slippers afford a comfortable stay. Outside, the large veranda provides a decked all-weather seating and eating area, where you can breakfast in the glow of the beautiful sunrise over Kit Hill, and later dine in the splendour of the picturesque evening sun as it sets over the moor.
The breathtaking moorland views tempt you to explore, both directly from the property and via the vast array of nearby walking, cycling and horse-riding opportunities, so that you may immerse yourself further in the picturesque serenity. Neighbouring villages include Pensilva, with moorland horse riding for all abilities, Minions with walks to the ancient Hurlers stone circles and the Cheesewring rocks, all offering astonishing views of Cornwall to the coast.
Local National Trust properties include Cotehele, Buckland Abbey and Lydford Gorge. Gunnislake forms the start of the scenic Tamar Valley (AONB) Railway Line. Canoe and cycle hire is available at Calstock, standing opposite historic Morewellham Quay on the lush banks of the beautiful River Tamar. There is an open-air Sterts Theatre and Siblyback Lake offers water sports, windsurfing, fishing, kayaking, walking and off-road cycle and walking routes. With so many options you are spoilt for choice, but whatever you choose, you will feel secure in the knowledge that you will return to the peace and tranquillity of this lovely lodge at day’s end.
