Extra Amenities

Named after a girl who inscribed her name on a piece of glass found when renovating the property, Hogwood Cottage has a fantastic combination of traditional features dating back to the 1700’s with a modern rustic charm. From the pretty market square of Knaresborough, you would never know Hogwood Cottage exists. Enter through the former shop, which now acts as a shared lobby with the apartment upstairs, where guests can store their bikes, log onto the shared Wi-Fi (available in the lobby and courtyard but not in the actual cottage) and plan exciting days out from the array of local information provided. Duck through a door at the back which then leads you out into a private courtyard with a seating area to relax in, this is where you will finally see the front door to the hidden Hogwood Cottage.
Hogwood Cottage is a brilliant base to explore this historic market town right from your very doorstep.

Potter around the array of local independent shops, grab a coffee at one of the market place cafés and be amazed by the ruins of the medieval Knaresborough Castle. Take a stroll along the riverside promenade or hire a boat and enjoy the stunning scenery and local wildlife from the water. Bebra Gardens is a wonderful spot to sit out not to mention the castle grounds and the fabulous views of the viaduct which are featured in the film ‘A Very Yorkshire Christmas’. For those keen on walking there are many local walks nearby. Visit Old Mother Shipton’s cave or meander along the Nidd Gorge. The long winding roads over the local moors offers some spectacular cycling.
