There is lots to see and do nearby, enjoy the quaint fishing villages of Staithes & Robin Hood’s Bay or the unspoilt sandy beaches of Sandsend and Runswick Bay.
Whitby is steeped in history and there are many visitor attractions that are connected to the town’s fascinating past, such as the Captain Cook Memorial Museum where you can learn about the famous explorer’s life in the port town. A trip to Whitby would not be the same without climbing the 199 steps to Whitby Abbey. From Saltburn take in the staggering panoramas from the clifftops along the Cleveland Way walking trail which connects you with all of the nearby coastal towns and villages. Helmsley is one of the prettiest towns in the North York Moors National Park and is perfect for a day out exploring the wider area. There are fascinating attractions, from the National Centre for Birds of Prey, Helmsley Castle, Helmsley Arts Centre, and the Walled Gardens, to award-winning eateries and the town’s very own brewery.
