Quincey Cottage is a beautifully presented 1750s fisherman’s cottage, nestled down a peaceful alleyway in the heart of Whitby’s characterful old town.

Located just off Church Street at the start of the cobbles, you’re surrounded by independent shops, cosy cafes, and quaint old-world pubs. Despite being in the midst of Whitby’s bustling attractions, Quincey Cottage offers a tranquil escape on Ellerby Lane, named after one of the heroic characters in Bram Stoker’s Dracula, which was famously set in Whitby. On the ground floor, you’re welcomed into an open-plan living area, featuring two comfortable sofas around a cosy gas fire and a dining table perfect for intimate meals.
The adjoining kitchen is well-equipped and overlooks a small, enclosed yard with outdoor seating and an outhouse ideal for storing beach gear like buckets, spades, paddleboards, and bodyboards – perfect for a short stroll to the beach. Upstairs, the first floor hosts a double bedroom with large built-in wardrobes for all your belongings, there is also a shower room on this floor. While the second floor features another double bedroom nestled under the eaves, offering a cosy and peaceful retreat.
Whitby is a town rich in history and culture. The iconic Whitby Abbey perched high on the cliffs, inspired the setting for Dracula and offers breathtaking views after climbing the famous 199 steps. The town is also home to the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, celebrating the town’s seafaring heritage, and the whalebone arch, which symbolizes Whitby’s whaling history. Throughout the year, Whitby hosts a variety of unique events, including goth, steampunk, folk, and pirate weekends, as well as the annual Whitby Regatta, making it a vibrant and captivating destination for all.
