If you like fishing, there are plenty of carp, tench roach, and perch to catch and day passes are available to purchase locally.


Other nearby attractions include the historic market town of Harleston, just 1½ miles away, which still holds a market every Wednesday, along with restaurants, cafés and shops. Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum can be found just over 5 miles away, where there are around 65 aircraft on display, some outside, as well as artefacts and exhibits for you to explore. Head to the famous Southwold, home to Adnams Brewery where you can have a tour and tasting session, an array of independent shops, the quintessential pier, and the beach lined with brightly coloured beach huts. Aldeburgh is famous for its fish and chip shop so get there early as it is very popular! Thorpeness set around the mere is worth a visit, hire a boat and see the islands named after Peter Pan characters or take in a spot of golf.


There is a regatta every August with a torch-lit boat possession and fireworks. Suffolk has many historic properties to visit such as Somerlayton Hall. Great Yarmouth is another popular seaside town and has a famous greyhound race track. Just down the road is Kessingland beach and a visit to Africa Wild is well worth a visit. Head inland and you can explore the Norfolk Broads National Park, a unique wetland that can be discovered on foot, bike, or by boat. This natural landscape is home to rare wildlife and is particularly popular with birdwatchers. Diss is only a short distance and offers an array of shops and restaurants.
