Situated a short stroll from the village, this holiday apartment, adjoining the owner’s home, provides an ideal base and is close to a lovely, tree-lined walk which runs along the river. The Northern Dales holds a wealth of historical interest; visit the gardens of Egglestone Hall, Raby Castle, Bowes Museum or Baldersdale Reservoirs. Staindrop has a shop, a pub, a café and bistro both serving food, and a Post Office. The historical market town of Barnard Castle is famous for ’The Banks’, antique shops, tea rooms and boutique shops. Fishing is available by permit on the River Tees. Hamsterley Forest has nature trails, pony trekking and mountain bike routes. High Force waterfall (the highest in England) and Beamish Museum are worth a visit. North Yorkshire is a few minutes’ drive and Durham is half an hour away. Shop and pub 500 yards.
