Situated in the peaceful and quaint village of Romaldkirk, which is nestled within the Dales, this detached barn conversion, adjacent to the owner’s home, really is the perfect location for guests wishing to enjoy a quiet romantic break, a walking or cycling holiday, or just to really explore the beauty of the surrounding areas. Nestled between Swaledale and Weardale, Romaldkirk lies in Teesdale, which is a peaceful haven of tranquillity, nature and ever changing landscapes. Perfect for walkers, The Dovecote is right at the heart of many established public footpaths and walkways. Ideal for walkers of all abilities, there is some stunning scenery and leisurely strolls along the side of the river to more taxing trails along the rugged fells. The Teesway footpath is easily accessible and takes guests through to the village of Cotherstone and beyond, or maybe head towards Mickleton and then even further afield towards Middleton-in-Teesdale.
Other walks lead towards the reservoirs of Grassholme or across towards Hury. In the heart of Romaldkirk is an award-winning pub and restaurant, so why not enjoy a lovely meal on the walk back towards the property. A little further afield, guests will be able to leave their car behind at the Bowlees Visitor Centre and then walk along to two of the most incredible waterfalls in the area, Low Force and High Force. This is also an ideal spot for guests who are wanting a more peaceful holiday with the chance to visit and explore some of the local historic attractions and National Trust properties, there are many to visit in the area.
Egglestone Hall and Gardens is just 2 miles away, Bowes Museum is 6 miles, and definitely an attraction worth a visit, Raby Castle with it’s famous deer that graze in the grounds, is 12 miles. Barnard Castle, 6 miles, is a historic market town that offers a quaint high street that is bustling with antiques shops, restaurants, bistros and cafes. 30 miles away, guests will be able to take a day trip to the city of Durham, where there are boutiques, shops, restaurants, bistros and also a theatre and leisure centre.
