All on one level, with panoramic views over the countryside, guests will find Jasmine Cottage warm and welcoming. The open plan living, kitchen and dining area with dining table and 4 chairs, is light and spacious, and has windows looking out over the horses in the field opposite. Customers are welcome to bring their own dog to stay. It should be noted that the owners have their own pets on site (very friendly); a lovely golden retriever, two cats, and 4 horses and 4 sheep.
Situated in the owner’s grounds, yet quietly nestled away, this semi-detached bungalow is 4 miles from the popular village of Lanchester, 3 miles from Consett for supermarkets and pubs and just 11 miles away from the city of Durham. The perfect spot for a quiet break, the village of Lanchester offers a super selection of places to eat, including three local pubs, an Italian restaurant and fish and chip shop.
The very well regarded Knitsley Farm Shop is also only a little over 2 miles away and has a fabulous selection of local food and drink, and is definitely worth the trip.
Ideal for guests who enjoy walking and cycling. There are numerous established public footpaths, walks and cycle paths close by, and the nearest cycle path is the C2C. The beautiful hills and valleys of Teesdale and Weardale are both between 20 and 30 minutes’ drive away, and walkers will find themselves surrounded by some of the most scenic countryside that County Durham has to offer. Hadrian’s Wall can be reached within an hour’s drive too and offers a more historic trail for walkers to take. The Derwent Valley Railway Path leads east towards the outskirts of Durham and is very popular with cyclists, whilst the Waskerley Way leads west and on into the vast open spaces of Weardale.
Jasmine Cottage has a sheltered area with a bar to lock bikes onto, so cycling enthusiasts will be able to bring their bikes and explore to their hearts content. The perfect base for guests wanting to enjoy a spot of history and culture, the cathedral city of Durham offers plenty of attractions to enjoy at all times of year. Also ideal for parents wanting to visit children, family members or friends who are studying at Durham University. Guests will be able to visit Beamish Living Museum, Gateshead and the Metro Centre, Newcastle-upon-Tyne the popular market town of Corbridge with its riverside walks and Hexham and its abbey. The beautiful Northumberland coast and castles, historic houses are within reach.
