Bedroom: Galleried with double bed and en-suite wiith shower cubicle and toilet.
Oil underfloor heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included. Initial fuel for wood burner included. Use of freezer.
Enclosed garden with patio and garden furniture. Bike store. Electrcic car charging point. Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking. Please note: There is a step in the garden. This property is set 1 mile down an unmade road.
Ferny Rigg Brye, fully renovated in 2020, is set amongst beautiful countryside on a working farm. This tranquil location, close to Falstone with its friendly village pub, is set in the Northumberland National Park Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the largest dark sky park in Europe. On site, the friendly owners run Ferny Rigg Alpacas, the first licensed alpaca business in Northumberland, and the property’s kingsize bed features a luxurious alpaca duvet!
The views from the cottage guarantee a relaxing break whether a short break or a week stay, a different experience awaits, with fresh eggsoften available from the owners’ hens.
Ferny Rigg Byre also offers free use of ¾ mile of single bank fishing on the North Tyne (guests must have own fishing license).
Ferny Rigg Byre is ideal for those wishing to either escape for relaxation or for true adventure seekers wishing to explore the many activities around Kielder Water. The area along the water offers kayaking, sailing, fishing, walking and mountain biking with regular events throughout the year. The visitor centres along the water have a range of facilities from picnic benches and shops, to cafés and an on-site leisure spa.
Lots of visitors love to visit the observatory, you don’t need be an expert as it’s fun for all ages.
Winter in Northumberland is as lovely as summer, with the scenery in autumn and the frosts of winter months making the surrounding countryside stunning. Whilst in the area a day trip to Hadrian’s Wall to see Roman forts is a must, or even a day trip over to the beautiful coast makes a lovely day out. Shop 10 miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
