Enjoying an elevated position along the A65, which connects Kendal, in Cumbria, to Skipton, in Yorkshire, Leyfield Coach House is the perfect base from which to explore the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales. Built into the hillside, this spacious, detached three-storey property has been designed to make the most of the stunning views over Kirkby Lonsdale and the surrounding countryside. Due to its hill side position, the property is entered through the second floor, where will you step into the bright and airy open plan living space, which boasts large picture windows so you can enjoy the picturesque views. French doors from the living area lead onto the large balcony, complete with a barbecue, making it ideal for al fresco dining. For those cooler evenings, there is a cosy wood burner and a Freeview TV in the living area, so you can curl up and watch your favourite show. On the lower floors are two good sized bedrooms, both of which are en-suite, and the master bedroom also benefits from a TV and doors that lead onto a patio area.
The popular and historic market town of Kirkby Lonsdale is just a 5-minute walk from the property where you will find and array of independent shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants.
There is also a children’s play park and several picnic spots nearby, making this a great base for families. A weekly market is held on a Thursday and the town also hosts various events throughout the year. Having everything within walking distance means you can leave the car behind and enjoy all of the town’s amenities without having to worry about traffic. There is a supermarket within half a mile, or for a wider range of amenities, Kendal is just 13 miles away.
The surrounding area offers lots of great opportunities for walkers, including a pleasant walk along the River Lune. Local landmark Devil’s Bridge is just a 2-minute walk away, as is Ruskin’s View, which was named after the poet who believed it to be one of the most beautiful places he had ever seen. For those who prefer more challenging walks, why not try Yorkshire’s famous three peaks? The area around Kirkby Lonsdale is also great for cycling with plenty of dedicated cycle paths.
A popular spot for mountain bikers is Grizedale Forest, only 30 miles away, which also has a delightful sculpture trail, as well as GoApe for the more adventurous. Other activities available locally include golf, fishing and horse riding.
With the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Park on the doorstep, there is lots to see and do. There are several stately homes and gardens in the area including Leighton Hall, Levens Hall, Holker Hall, Sizergh Castle and Lowther Castle. Families with children will enjoy a trip to Carnforth Station Heritage Centre just 10 miles away, Ingleton with its waterfall trails and show caves and the Beatrix Potter attraction at Bowness-on-Windermere just 22 miles away. Other places worth visiting include Morecambe Bay with its sandy beach and Lancaster. With something for everyone and with lots of space inside and out, Leyfield Coach House is the perfect destination for families and friends who want to explore this wonderful part of Cumbria.
