The sea views from each house are protected to this day. This splendid Victorian villa retains many of its original period details across its three floors and has attractive gardens to the front and rear of the house. Positioned above Freshwater Bay it’s moments from the beach and conveniently located near shops, cafés and local amenities. Access to all parts of the island is made easy by a regular bus service that passes by the property.
Freshwater is situated at the western tip of the Isle of Wight and consists of Freshwater village and Freshwater Bay. Freshwater village offers a good selection of small independent shops, cafés and a leisure centre with an indoor swimming pool.
The magnificent high chalk cliffs, rolling downs and delightful beaches at Freshwater Bay and nearby Compton Bay attract many visitors and surfers all year round. The Freshwater Bay Golf Club, which overlooks the English Channel has stunning coastal sea views from most tees and offers a superb day out for golfers of all abilities, whilst the area is a haven for birdwatchers, and walkers with many wonderful walks to be enjoyed not only on West Wight but across the entire Isle of Wight criss-crossing over a much varied island landscape. Locally, Afton Down, the location of the famous 1970 Isle of Wight Music Festival, and Tennyson Down are the most popular walks.
A further feature of this property is that it’s able to provide storage for bicycles and sports equipment. The island has become a real hot spot for cycling enthusiasts with a choice of challenging off road bridleways, peaceful byways and level, purpose-made tracks running along the former railway line close by.
Cycle to the famous Needles landmark at Alum Bay with its coloured sand cliffs and chairlift to the beach or take on the full round the island route which is 66 miles long, and is used for the annual Isle of Wight Randonnee. Travel along the route at a more leisurely pace and along the way, you will find numerous restaurants, pubs and cafés, amongst the quaint villages and towns serving tasty local produce. A little further afield Cowes is well-known by sailors who come from all over the globe for Cowes Week, the Round the Island Yacht Race and many other sailing events. Whatever you decide, one thing is for sure, the Isle of Wight has plenty to offer. Beach 500 yards. Shop 350 yards, pub and restaurant 150 yards
