In the ‘Garden of England’, where the apple orchards blossom, situated between the Wealden villages of Frittenden and Staplehurst, lies this single-storey barn with level access. It adjoins the owner’s home and is surrounded by glorious Kentish countryside, and is situated in a very quiet location at the end of a long private driveway, overlooking paddocks with horses grazing. Maplehurst Barn Stables makes an excellent base for exploring or simply just sitting on the decking and relaxing. Visit Hush Heath, the state of the art winery, with a beautiful 400-acre estate, where some of England’s most iconic still and sparkling wines, and ciders are produced.
Visitors can join a guided vineyard and tasting tour.
Garden lovers should head towards the National Trust owned Sissinghurst Castle and Gardens, which once belonged to the writer Vita Sackville-West and Harold Nicholson and is one of the most famous gardens in England achieving Grade I Status. The gardens at Great Dixter, Pashley Manor and Scotney Castle are also not to be missed. Described as the ‘loveliest castle in the world’, Leeds Castle is nestled near the county town of Maidstone, where you can also enjoy open air concerts in the summer.
Tunbridge Wells is half an hour’s drive away and offers Jazz on the Pantiles and many fine dining experience. Beaches can be found at Hastings and Camber Sands and there are very good rail connections to London offering the theatre and additional sightseeing opportunities.
