This detached property is situated just a short distance above the picturesque Steephill Cove, which lies just south west of the Victorian seaside town of Ventnor. Steephill is a traditional, unspoilt fishing cove with a sand and shingle beach, nestled between rocky cliffs and smugglers’ coves.
The bay has no road access, which makes it a unique hidden gem. Find your way down the pathways and you can dine on the freshest crab and lobster, or simply sit back and relax on a deckchair on the beach. The seaside town of Ventnor is just over a mile away from Steephill Lodge, and here you will find a number of lovely tea shops, pubs and restaurants dotted along the Esplanade, including the well-known Spyglass Inn. There are also some quirky and bespoke shops, an award-winning park and a paddling pool. The town, which for the most part is built on the steep hill leading to the beach, retains its original seaside charm and makes for a great day out for all ages.
Sea and cliff walks can be found along the coastal paths, along with many outdoor pursuits including horse riding, fishing, cycling, paragliding, water sports and golf. There are numerous attractions for all ages including The Needles with its chairlift, amusement park, boat rides, lighthouse and coloured sands of Alum Bay. You can pay a visit to Queen Victoria’s favourite holiday residence Osborne House, Blackgang Chine, the UK’s oldest amusement park, Ventnor Botanical Gardens, Tapnell Farm Park, Carisbrooke Castle or the sailing towns of Yarmouth and Cowes. Whatever you decide, one things for sure, the Isle of Wight has plenty to offer. Beach ¼ mile. Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.
Need a hand deciding - farm cottage or holiday by the sea? South of England is UK at its best. There is plenty of cottages that accept dogs in Tunbridge Wells, Berkshire or London - some have beaches close by.
