This charming, thatched, single-storey barn conversion is situated adjacent to the owner’s home, with views over a trickling stream and rolling countryside with sheep grazing. Inside is a spacious open plan, living/dining room with a vaulted beamed ceiling, and a kitchenette at one end. There is a step down to the bathroom and twin bedroom and an additional seating area.
Why not take a leisurely stroll to one of the local pubs which are within approximately a 10-minute walk, or the village shop at Cheriton for provisions. The popular town of Alresford is 3 miles away and has lovely colourful Georgian architecture and offers riverside walks, further eateries, inns, tea rooms and shops.
For keen cyclists and walkers, there is the Ox Drove cycle track nearby and routes from Alton to Fareham which link to the South Downs National Park. There are many good golf clubs in the area, the nearest being at Alresford, and trout fishing in the Meon Valley.
Yew Tree Cottage is ideal for couples who wish to explore the many scenic walks in the area, as well as sightseeing attractions. National Trust’s Hinton Ampner House and Gardens is approximately 1 mile away, and the Mid Hants steam railway, The Watercress Line, at nearby Alresford makes a great historic journey back through time! The historic cathedral city of Winchester is 8 miles away, and also near to the market town of Petersfield, 11 miles away.
Southampton and Portsmouth with the Spinnaker Tower, day trips to the Isle of Wight by ferry, shopping outlets and historic dockyard with ships are all within easy reach. Less than 30 minutes drive will take you to the nearest beach at Hayling Island and about 40 minutes drive to the wonderful sandy beach at West Wittering. Also within easy driving distance are Chichester with Goodwood or Fontwell Races, Jane Austen’s House Museum, Gilbert White’s Museum, Hambledon Vineyard, The New Forest, Marwell Zoo, Queen Elizabeth Country Park. Beach 28 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.
