Extra Amenities

Sunset Cottage has been lovingly restored to provide a homely and welcoming cottage, ideal for a perfect stay bordering the North York Moors National Park.
The cottage lives up to its name with wonderful sunsets from the front of the property. The area is renowned as being one of the best places to enjoy the night sky and watch the stars. Enjoy a glass of wine watching the sunset over the valley. There’s an abundance of wildlife from deer, hares and the wonderful barn owls. For those who love the great outdoors then this is the place for you with fantastic walks right from your doorstep. The Dalby Forest is a very popular area for cycling and walking with over 8,000 acres of woodland to explore.

Mountain bikers travel to this site to try out the challenging trails especially the UCI World Cup trail. For those who enjoy a more leisurely bike ride, there’s over 55 miles of forest trails to enjoy. A great place for the dog to have a good walk and then come back to a cosy wood burner and settle down to watch the sunset.
The village of Newton-upon-Rawcliffe is just a mile down the country lane. A picturesque Yorkshire village with a village green, duck pond and village pub that serves food and is a great hub for both the locals and tourists. The nearest town is the market town of Pickering, home to the North Yorkshire Moors steam railway.

Here you can catch the steam trains and take a wonderful train ride across the North York Moors to Whitby. You can stop off at Goathland, home to the fictional TV village of Aidensfield in the TV programme Heartbeat. Pickering has plenty of shops, bars, restaurants and pubs as well as Pickering Castle, a 13th century castle open to the public. This area of Yorkshire is famous for its beautiful villages with the wonderful dry stone walls, the roaming sheep and village greens. Thornton-le-Dale, Hutton-le-Hole and indeed Newton-upon-Rawcliffe to name just a few. Beach 17 miles. Shop 4½ miles, pub and restaurant ¾ mile
