Just 2 miles from the historic town of Whitby, with its iconic abbey and the glorious golden beach, Ruswarp is a quaint village with the surrounding coastline and North York Moors National Park to discover. This spacious property was built in 1849 as a village school, which was converted into a bungalow in the 1870’s, and has recently been modernised and lovingly furnished as an inviting holiday home.
Boasting a wonderful enclosed garden, with a seating area on the patio and a private woodland walk through the trees overlooking the property. The interior has an English cottage feel throughout, with sweeping wooden flooring throughout the living areas and carpeted bedrooms. Stone steps lead you up to the kitchen, which is well equipped and ready for you to create all of your favourite meals.

The living room has a leather suite around the feature fireplace, with a step up to the raised dining area which enjoys views of the river. There are three well-presented bedrooms, with William Morris soft furnishings adding a splash of colour. There is the master superking bedroom, a twin bedroom with zip and link beds and en-suite facilities, and a third bedroom with a kingsize bed. They all have wardrobes and drawers for your belongings. The en-suite bathroom has a shower over the bath. There is also a family shower room. This is the perfect home from home.
Ruswarp is a beautiful village only 2 miles outside of Whitby, and it is a scenic walk along the footpath beside the train tracks to the town centre.

You can also hop on a bus or the train to get into Whitby if you prefer. The cottage is conveniently located next to a children’s indoor play area, as well as the miniature steam train and the riverside café which has delightful views as well as delicious food. The railway station, village shop, butchers and village pub are just a short walk away. Further along the coast you have Robin Hood’s Bay, Sandsend, Staithes and Scarborough, all glorious for a day out, and the North York Moors National Park is beautiful and laced with hiking trails. This is a great destination for exploring the highlights of the Heritage Coast and the North Yorkshire Moors, crossed by the steam railway from Whitby to Pickering.
