To the North is Leominster in the heart of Mortimer Country – rolling hills, water meadows and access to areas of natural outstanding beauty. Hay-on-Wye hosts the famed Literary festival - it is the second hand book capital of the World - well worth a visit. While on holiday you simply must take advantage of the region produce and eat local! Herefordshire is famous for its produce, not least apples hut also for its Hereford cows. Famous cider brands started in the county and is still made locally. Hereford is the county town and the Wye runs through its centre. It is a lovely market town and has a glorious Cathedral, home to the famous Mappi Mundi.

If you have a car - or you hire one and want to plan some good walks, head towards Brecon Beacons and Pen Y Fan, and walk The Sugarloaf, the Blorenge and the Skirrid close to Abergavenny, a wonderful market town. For a fuller days walking, follow Offa's Dyke from Pandy to Hay.
