This quirky, cosy, semi-detached cottage enjoys a pretty location tucked away just steps from the quayside in the old harbour. It is quiet in the shared walled garden, but all around are shops, cafés and restaurants. The high street is a 2-minute walk away, and a 10-minute walk takes you past the sea water baths and out on to the salt marshes. There are two fresh fish shops a stone’s throw away, and you can hop on a ferry to the Isle of Wight. The cottage forms part of an L-shaped building, the other part being occupied by the property owners. The Cottage By The Quay is the oldest part of the house, dating from Tudor times, and is now a comfortable base with plenty of thoughtful touches, such as a book library and a selection of games.
The New Forest is ever popular all year round, and is suitable for all age groups. The unspoilt forest and heathland, with wandering ponies and cattle, is what it is most known for. Miles of beautiful walks are available, or alternatively the surrounding area can be explored by car or on bicycle via the many cycle paths. Discover appealing villages, towns, attractions and gardens, such as Lyndhurst, Beaulieu Motor Museum, Exbury Gardens and the riverside village of Bucklers Hard.
Further afield, but well worth a trip, is Monkey World and Bovington Tank Museum near Wool. Marwell Zoo, Paultons Park with Peppa Pig World, Highcliffe Castle, The Owl and Otter Park and nautical maritime history at Southampton, with retail shopping outlets, are also within easy reach. The coastline with its beaches at Bournemouth, Sandbanks and Poole is within a short drive, with many popular activities such as windsurfing, boating and swimming all available. Beach 6 miles. Shop 300 yards, pub and restaurant 100 yard
