Nestling at the foot of the North Downs is Fig Cottage, a detached, listed former farm building. It resides within the owner’s 8-acre grounds and small holding, including a vineyard which guests are free to enjoy. This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty provides access to footpaths and cycle routes, enabling you to explore the glorious, rural surroundings and enjoy horse riding and golf nearby. Fig Cottage is ideally located for exploring Canterbury, just 9 miles away, where the skyline is dominated by its historic cathedral and is the oldest in England.
For a day at the coast, towns such as Whitstable famous for its oysters, Hythe’s pebble beach, and Sandgate with interesting antique shops, are all well worth a visit. There is easy access to the Eurostar and the Channel Tunnel for those looking for something further afield in France, so don’t forget to bring your passport! Something closer to home is the local pub, where it not only feeds the family after a day’s exploring, it also provides a venue for craft fairs and farmers’ markets, and won an award for ’Kent pub of the year’ in the Kent life awards.
