Seahouses, 2 miles, still has a working harbour where boat trips may be taken to see the seals on the Farne Islands. Visit Bamburgh Castle, with its much photographed romantic beach or Alnwick, 12 miles, with its famous castle used in the Harry Potter films and enchanting water gardens. Take a trip across the causeway (at low tide) to Holy Island, a few miles further up the rugged and unspoilt coastline. Shops, restaurants and pubs 200 yards.
